First Grade News For the week of September 17-21, 2018 Dear Families, It has been another busy week in the first grade. This week students began sharing during Morning Meeting. This is an opportunity for them to bring important objects from home to talk about or to tell about exciting events. The class then practices asking questions? Since we are now writing personal narratives - stories about things we have done- during Writer’s Workshop, it has been amazing to see the two parts of our day merge. Students are turning their shares into stories and using the questions their friends are asking to add details to their writing! This week we also learned about adding labels to our drawings as a way of helping or readers read our pictures- another great way to add details. Ask your children to tell you about the stories they are writing!Jason came from Siskin again on Tuesday. He shared information with us about honey bees, bumble bees and wasps. It was timely information for us to have. Hopefully, with the onset of cooler weather their will be fewer stinging insects on the playground. , Have a wonderful weekend,Donna Ferrario Notes: Thursday, September 27 - Early Dismissal - School will dismiss at 12:50.
