First Grade News
For the week of September 24-28, 2018
Dear Families,
It has been another busy week in the first grade. On Thursday, we joined with the rest of the elementary school to celebrate school-wide positive Husky behavior. All together the K-6 grades have earned more than 1000 Husky bucks! For meeting our first school goal we received a coupon for an extra recess. We will be cashing our coupon in on Monday afternoon!
In math workshop during the month of September, first grade mathematicians have been working on counting forward by ones, collecting data, and adding using the +0 & +1 strategies. This week we focused on building number lines, analyzing the data we have been collecting in our daily tally graphs using the symbols for greater than, less than & equal to, and writing the equations for our +0 & +1 number facts. Math workshop is an amazing time to be in the first grade classroom!
Have a wonderful fall weekend,
Donna Ferrario
